OUGD603 - Magna Massage Initial Designs

Initial Designs

The initial designs for magna massage involved the incorporation of the photographs and the information that the client needed on the posters. The first design that I tried for the client involved the use of a black bar to hold the information and then to have the photograph by the side. After producing this design I decided that it didn't work very well or have the aesthetic that I was hoping for. I decided it would look better if the information could be incorporated into the photograph making it look more consistent and together as a whole image.

OUGD603 - Magna Massage Photo Edits

Photo Edits

After choosing the images that I wanted from the contact sheets I had a play around editing the photographs. I only made small changes as I didn't want the images to look over edited. I wanted them to have a natural and clean look. I also decided to change one of the images to black and white so that there was a slight variation across the images as I felt that they could have ended up all looking a little bit too similar.

Photographs

Following on from the research, I did close up images for the photographs. Some of them were a little bit too abstract as they weren't obvious what the pictures were showing. However after sorting through the images I found some that I felt would be representative of the brand. I needed images that had enough space for when inserting the logo and the information that the client was need on the posters and flyers.

OUGD603 - Magna Massage Logos

Magna logos

The magna logos have already been designed and advertised. You can see them below. There are three different variations of the logo but they all follow the same consistency throughout so are easily recognisable. I spoke to Chris about the logo which he would like me to use the most and we decided on the first one.

OUGD603 - Magna Massage Research

Research

To begin the research for the magna massage brief I thought it was important to initially look at the advertising that has been done for magna before. The poster below is a poster that was done to advertise that magna massage is now available at the venue Ultraflex. The poster is very in your face and not image based which Chris had asked me to do. It also uses very fierce imagery which we had discussed staying away from as this could be less appealing to people of all age ranges and body types.

For more research I looked at photography that has been done of massages before. From looking at all of the photos I decided that I wanted to look at the use of more close up images. This again removes any intimidation and bias that could come with the choice of model and would also create images that are more interesting and different from the norm that is used for massage company advertising.
