Research for Final Object Designs

Research for Final Object Designs

70 years of the Guinness World Records:
I needed to design an appropriate logo for the packaging to show that it is designed for the 70th year of the Guinness World Records. I decided that it would make sense to keep the original and well known design used for the Guinness World Records books but to add extra to the design for the 70 years. The original design is as seen below in Figure 1.

Edison Mazda was a trademarked name registered by General Electric in 1909 for incandescent light bulbs. It is one of the oldest light bulb companies and I decided that I thought that it would be an interesting name to use for my packaging. The name was used for light bulb packaging from 1909 through to 1945. After discussing with my peers I decided that it would be more effective to recreate a light bulb company that is years old such as Edison Mazda rather than rebranding something that is already present and still being used. I chose the Edison Mazda because of the link that it has to Thomas Edison who is the well known creator of the light bulb. Some examples of the original Edison Mazda Packaging can be seen in Figure 2 and Figure 3. I wanted to keep some of the aspects of the original packaging so thought it might be nice to incorporate one of the slogans somewhere in my designs.
