Wayfinding Initial Crit Feedback
After the initial crit and speaking to the group about my initial designs I got a lot of feedback for further development. They gave me the idea to pick a shape and for the pictograms and clipping mask the images that I have created into the one main shape. We also talked about vectoring my drawings on illustrator to make sure that they had a clean, crisp and professional look. I wanted to include the characters to the game so the group gave me the idea of experimenting with large scale models of the counters that are used in the original board game, for example, like the large chess pieces that are used for children. I think that this could give my wayfinding system an interesting aspect that children would like also. I decided after this discussion that it would be a good idea to have the characters representing the architects outside the buildings. This would mean that people would become aware of which architects created which building and then would also mean that the people playing the game would be aware that they are definitely in the correct place.
Another idea that was discussed was the use of arrows to make it clear that people are heading in the correct direction however after discussing the idea of a super graphic it was clear that it might not work due to lack of space to project the board game. Due to this issue the idea came about to make a board game that could be taken round the city whilst people played that game. This would mean that the use of arrows may not work but it would be worth experimenting with them anyway.
