Wayfinding Development - Pictograms

Wayfinding Development - Pictograms

After the crit I developed the pictograms further. I used the original pictures which I took from around Leeds and developed the sketches which I had taken to the crit. After I had recreated the pictograms that I had originally drawn I started to think of ways in which I could present the pictorgrams. I therefore decided to think of a certain shape that I could maybe put all of the designs in so that there was some sort of consistency across my designs. Once I had done this I started to think about how they could be used in context in my designs. I therefore referred to the work that I had originally experimented with when doing the first study tasks. Referring back to study task three where we looked at black letter writing I thought I could look at some how incorporating the arrows which I designed when doing black letter within my work. I tried with a few of the designs as an experiment to see how it would look by making a clipping mask that meant the wayfinding pictograms were inside of the arrows. Once I have created the board I will make a decision on how I present these pictograms so that they compliment the game board in a aesthetically pleasing way.

After the Initial crit I had discussed ways in which I could develop a game board for my Cluedo themed wayfinding system. I therefore also created further pictograms intended to use for the game board which was discussed about making in the crit. These pictograms are silhouettes of each of the buildings that I am using for my system. The idea is to have the silhouettes of the buildings in the places on the board where the rooms are placed in the game.
