OUGD603 - Durex Initial Poster Ideas

Initial Designs

When starting the initial designs we immediately found that the dishwasher photograph did not have the same aesthetic as the others due to the placing of items in the photography. We therefore decided that a poser campaign of 3 was the way we wanted to go and started to experiment with the other images. The first set of images seen below are where I have experimented with the colour of the typography which was sampled from the condom and also the opacity of the images to see if this would help the type stand out more. These images involved the type being place in the right hand corner and paired with the logo.

After starting with the type in the corner of the images I tried moving it to the centre still playing with the colouring and the opacity of the photographs. I also tried messing around with the placing of the logo in relation to the rest of the typography. Whether it all worked together or whether it worked have the logo in a separate space on the image to the rest of the typography.

On all of the original experiments one of the main issues that both me and Emma were having was the legibility of the typography against the photographic background. We therefore need to come up with some way in which we could make sure that the typography could actually be read by someone viewing the poster. Due to this I tried adding a white bar to the bottom of the photograph that the type and logo could be placed in. Although this was a solution to the type legibility issue this meant that we lost the aesthetic of a full bleed photograph as the background of the poster so we decided to experiment some more.

After experimenting with the bar at the bottom of the image I then tried using capital letters for the main tagline as another way of making the typography more legible. This seemed like the best solution to the problem and was therefore the way in which we decided to develop the final edits.
