After completing the photoshoot I went through and had a look at all of the images to see which ones I felt I could use. I chose two from the initial "fight" scene, 3 to experiment with from the stage where someone has the bottle and then 1 from the "aftermath of the fight".
Contact sheet of chosen photos and initial edits:
Photo 1:
The first photo is my favourite of the ones from the fight scene. When editing I had to play around a lot with the colour in order to find the right balance. It was difficult to keep the white background crisp and clean while making sure the rich red colour of the ketchup came through. This was also difficult with the arms as if I added to much red to the image the skin colour of the models ended up looking very red/pink. I also had to edit the labels off of the other bottles just to make sure that the Heinz brand is the only one that is visible in the imagery.
Photo 2:
The second photo I like due to there being 3 hands gripping the bottle but this also meant that the label was covered. I therefore felt that although I liked the picture it did not show off the Heinz brand in the way that I was hoping.
Photo 3:
The third photo was once someone had grabbed the ketchup and the other hands still trying to grab it. I thought this image was really nice with the shadow in the background and I think that the positioning of all the hands in the image worked well.
Photo 4:
The fourth photo that I edited was the aftermath image. I thought this was a really nice image due to the use of aperture creating a shallow depth of field. The background did not remain as crisp and white as I had hoped but I actually thought that this gave an interesting effect to the photograph.
Photos 5 and 6:
Photos 5 and 6 were very similar. They were from the moments after the ketchup had been grabbed and then squeezed in the rush and fight of getting the ketchup. I liked these images however I felt that the placing of the hands underneath the ketchup looked a little bit staged. I felt that it appeared that the hand had been purposely placed underneath the squeezing bottle rather than just getting messy as they tried to grab this bottle. This maybe could have been a fault in my direction of the shoot as I didn't realise this issue till afterwards. This has shown me that in future I will have to check all the photos before the end of a shoot to make sure I have all the images that I wanted.
