When thinking about adding my title to the book I had thought that it would be interesting to use the concept of a label in the same way that gin and tonic bottles have label. This could be the use of a sleeve or some sort of packaging that could be added to the book as an extra. I have researched into different ways in which bottles are packaged and labelled.
The first bottles that I looked at were the William Street bottles. These use labels that look like tags to add extra detail to their bottles. I think that this could be an interesting way of displaying the name of my book on the cover. I could maybe look at attaching a label to the binding of the book.
Another bottle package that I looked at was the essentials range. Some of their bottles had an interesting wrap effect. I felt that this is something I would be able to mimic for a book but I could look at using a similar idea in order to cover the book.
This is another similar wrap ideas from Bathtub Gin. I like the use of the brown material as I think that it gives the bottle an environmentally friendly feel but still looks high end.
Hendricks Gin uses a small booklet in their packaging. This is a similar concept to the first bottles that I looked at which used a label. The use of something like this would compliment the book as it has this gin displayed inside. However I wouldn't want the design decisions to look like they were swayed by a particular gin, this would mean that I would have to make sure that my label is representative of the whole of the book.
A lot of the bottles as seen in the picture above just use labels with no extra packaging. I feel that a label just stuck on the book could look a little tacky. I could look at experimenting with this but I'm not sure that it would be the best choice.
Many of the gins however also can come in boxes as shown in the example above. This is a similar concept to a sleeve that goes over a book which can also be seen above. I could therefore look at doing a sleeve rather than a label but it would still be representative of the gins and their packaging. This could also compliment the idea of keeping the book long lasting and sustainable as it would add an extra layer of protection to the book.
