When deciding the size that the book needed to be one of the workshops we did in class came in very useful. We looked into all the different standard sizes that books are usually made to. Seen below are the sizes which we looked out cut into separate pieces of paper to demonstrate the exact sizes.
After looking at all of the sizes I started to think about the external factors that would also play a part in the decision of the book size. I didn't want it to look like a menu because thats not what its intended to be, therefore the thin and tall sizes would not fit the brief. If it were to be used by staff behind the bar it would need to be a reasonable size that is accessible and not to large to have the to pass around behind the bar. I therefore was looking at the smaller sizes. However it also couldn't be too small as it is directed at many different people and might be looked at by more than one person at a time. I therefore decided that the best size to go with would be the 191 x 127 Crown as it is a small but readable size that would allow for the books multi-purposes.
