- Look at maybe using scented paper for the flavours.
- Check out the Flavour Thesaurus.
- Make the design of the book more interesting and slightly less safe. How can you include the content but still make it an interesting and different publication.
- Look at doing a swatch book?
- Steer away from the fever tree colours if possible.
- It could be a square publication, like beermats?
In the crit I was told to look at doing a ring bound publication, where there are the different combinations in 3 different moving parts/categories. This would allow the person to mix and match and move the different flavours next to the different gins.
Although this is an idea that I think would look interesting, it unfortunately doesn't really solve the problem which my client was trying to with the idea for the publication. The publication was supposed to be created involving specific recommended combinations of gins, tonics and fruits that go well together to give people the information they normally ask when they come to the bar before they get there. Its aim is to stop people coming to the bar and taking a long time choosing and asking for recommendations of gins and their combinations.
