Initial Sleeve Designs:
When designing the sleeve I initially had to decide on the title and how it was to be arranged on the front of the book. Below are two separate ways of displaying the title. After a lot of consideration I decided that the best way of displaying it was the image on the right hand side. This is because it is more aesthetically pleasing and also compliments the style of the book more by leaving a border all the way round.
My first design is based on the research I did into the boxes that come with gin bottle and the idea of a full sleeve for the book. I would use a white card to match the inside pages and the thread used in the binding and laser cut the title into the sleeve. This would therefore compliment the pages in the book that have been cut out running with that concept and the black cover would be seen through allowing the title to be displayed.
The second idea was based on the use of gin labels. Although I am unsure that this idea will look good on the cover I thought it was worth doing the design just to see how it looked and if it would be worth creating. This design would just place on the front cover of the book in the same way that gin bottles have labels stuck to the front of them.
The final design is based on the tie on label and Hendricks gin booklet. The image below on the left hand side is the front and on the right is the inside. The inside would display a small amount of information about the book and what its about. This would then be tied to the corner of the book in the same way that the labels are tied onto the bottles.
