A1 Poster Design:
The poster which I designed possessed elements which I had researched from the already existing national history museum designs. This is because I decided that if I were to be designing a poster for the museum it would have to have some resemblance to posters they have made in order for it to be recognisable as a poster for the museum. I therefore used Futura as the typeface because this is the typeface that the museum uses across the whole of its brand. I also included the National History Museum logo and the treasures sign as I decided that I wanted this dinosaur exhibition to be part of the treasures campaign.
When looking at already existing posters I saw that they took 3 different snippets of different photos and put them together as part of the poster. Although I only wanted to use one photograph of the triceratops I liked the way that they made it look like there were 3 different layers to the imagery. I therefore decided to layer the photo 3 times and change the opacity of each image to make the photograph look like it had interesting dimensions.
I also included some snappy but interesting information in the hopes to entice the viewer of the poster. I thought that this would help encourage people to want to find out more and go along to the exhibition.
In order to depict the way the audience would view the poster I used a modular grid to predict the folding technique of the final outcome.
Finally, I chose to have the photograph in black and white as I didn't want to artificially change the colours due it looking very fake when using this technique. Also by using the black and white it doesn't take too much attention away from the information that the museum would need people to read in order for them to know what the exhibition is about and where to find it.
