Evaluation:
The design that I have created successfully responds to the brief we were given. I think that the colour scheme works well as the use of a dull cover reflects the mood of the story as the book has a dark storyline. I also enjoyed the use of photography as this is a media which I have always been interested in but don't use it very often. By using this media it made my book cover slightly different to come others. The concept behind the reason for the design is based on the life of Truman and the killers. I think that this works well as it incorporates relations to the author as well as reference to some of the themes hidden in the story. The choice of typography is also based on the same type that was used in the article that Truman read about the murders.
If I were to revisit this brief in the future I would use a photography studio to shoot the photograph for the cover. This would make the photograph for the front cover cleaner and would also give the photograph better lighting in order to make it look more professional. I think that the home setting does however work for the message that the image is trying to say as the comfort of your own home is where you feel safe enough to be most vulnerable. This is how Truman felt when researching for the book and how the killers had felt due to their pasts.
