This module has made me realise how important the use of colour is in graphic design. This is because colour plays a significant role in the way a design is perceived by a viewer and is important when trying to specify a design to a certain target audience.
The research that I did for this module in to RGB and CMYK allowed me to use the appropriate printing method to create my pantone booklet (Figure 1). I used CMYK because all printers use this method of printing because it creates many different colours depending on how its overlaid whereas RGB is used for the image on the screen. The research that I did for the pantone booklet into colour swatches and use of photography, Joseph Albers colour theory and Klein Blue also showed me that colour has a huge impact on a design and its audience (Figures 2, 3, 4 and 5).
I chose to use a simplistic and silhouette style for all three of my book cover designs (Figure 6, 7 and 8). This is because by using bold colours and silhouettes for each of the designs I felt that they would stand out on the shelves amongst other books. The use of colour within my book cover was something I found was important to get right in order for the public to percieve the book and its story correctly of face value.
