Initial Ideas:
- Adam Bojelian Memorial Talk, Horizon Leeds.
1.
My first idea uses a line from one of Adams poems called winter.
The line is 'Along winding streets and lanes'.
I want to photograph a winding street/lane and layer on top of the image the information about the memorial talk. This would show relevance to Adam as it uses the imagery from the line of his poem and gives the information needed. On the back of the print the whole of the Winter Poem could be printed to be read by the public.
2.
The second idea is to create 8 mini collages based on the imagery created in on of Adams poems which could make up a little book (hotdog fold). The book would also be able to be opened out into a poster which would have the poem printed.
eg.
The photographs are a rough example of how the book would be put together and opened out into a poster.
I created a couple of ideas for the collages that could be used for the book as seen below with the caption of which line of the poem the imagery came from.

The third idea that I decided I could use for my print was to take the line from the poem Winter, 'It is a winter tapestry.' I want to use this line to create a winter illustration and print onto a material such as muslin which would reflect the line of the poem as I would have created my own winter tapestry.
I took a photograph of a bare tree and did a very sketchy drawing taken from the tree which I could use for the winter illustration. If I were to print it I would use black for the main imagery and then do a colour layer of a frosty blue slightly of centre. I think that this would create a wintery feel and give the image a shadowed affect.
The rough examples of my photograph and illustration can be seen below.
4.
My fourth idea is a typographic poster. I want to incorporate the way in which Adam writes his poetry into my poster. For this I need to make it clear that he blinks at the words that he wants to use for his poem. I want to create a list of words with a line of his poem hidden within the words. I will draw a blinking symbol which I will layer over the words that make up a line from one of his poems.

My final idea was to do a part typographic and part photographic poster. The style was inspired by the artist Lex Wilson - a couple examples of his work:
I want to include a line of one of Adams poems on one side of the poster as well as some information about the event which will be seen differently due to the fold. The same idea will be used for the back of the poster with photography that reflects the line of the poem that I have written on the front of the poster.
Below is an example of the sort of design that I am thinking:
