Pantone my Street - Initial Outcome

Initial Outcome:

When creating my design for my pantone booklet I decided that I wanted to have a go at designing something a little bit different. As we were looking at different colours and different shades of colour I decided that I wanted to have a go at designing a pantone booklet in the style of a colour swatch. An example of what I mean by this can be seen below:

In order to create this I made the all of the art boards a small rectangle size. I decided to put each bit of information on one of the art boards as I didn't want to overcrowd them too much as I wanted them to be easy to read and understand. I chose to use a serif font for this particular design as when looking into colour swatches they appear to use serif fonts the most. I also placed the images that I used and the colours which I picked from the street photograph I took onto different art boards as well.

The image above is a screen shot of the way that my designs for the colour swatch turned out. I like the way that they look and think that it was interesting to try something a little bit different. For the production of my colour swatch I needed to print on fairly thick card in order for them to work in the way that I needed them too. As much as in theory this idea could have worked really well, unfortunately when it came to the printing it all went wrong. The card didn't go through the printer properly which meant that the images and text didn't print properly. I therefore tried creating it with a thinner paper but this meant that the colour swatch was way too flimsy to work in the way that it had been designed. Due to this I decided to change my design idea and create a booklet using the information that I had already collected for the brief.
