OUGD503 - Collaboration Charity Research and Colour Scheme

Collaborative Charity Research:

We have chosen to support  LUPUS UK for our dance show due to a close connection to the illness for one of the dancers and organisers. We think this charity is worth taking the time to look at and  hope to organise future events to raise more money for the charity and all the good that it does.

Lupus is an incurable immune system illness, probably genetic in origin and mainly suffered by females. It can affect any part of the body and that's the danger.

LUPUS UK is the only national registered charity supporting people with systemic lupus and discoid lupus and assisting those approaching diagnosis. We presently have over 5500 Members and a number of Regional Groups around the UK who arrange medical talks, publish local newsletters, set up local occasions and organise fundraising events.

The colour that is associated with LUPUS UK is the colour purple as can be seen from their logo. They are also represented by a butterfly. These are two things we need to take into account when designing.

LUPUS UK Logo

When looking into the colour scheme Emma made a colour swatch of the colours taken from the logo as seen below. We decided that the main colour used throughout the designs could be the light purple as it is the most friendly and inviting colour of the others. In order to contrast this colour in an effective way we decided that the secondary colour would be the white as it would stand out well against the light purple. We will also incorporate butterflies throughout the designs to make sure that they are all representative of LUPUS UK and promote the charity in an appropriate manor.
