Already Existing Cover Designs

The already existing noughts and crosses books all take a very similar design stance. The all use a sketched nought and cross on the cover just placed slightly differently. Figure 1 is slightly different that the other two designs as it has a lot more use of colour. I think that this could be interpreted to represent the idea that we are all different colours. It also uses a much more script typeface for the book title and author name with is consistent with the style of the nought and cross. The other two book designs take a more similar approach. They both incorporate serif or san serif typography with the illustrations of the noughts and crosses. The one in figure 2 however, uses colour for the nought whereas in figure 3 there is only use of black and white imagery. These designs make an impact on the reader as they leave a lot of mystery as to what the book is about rather than giving it all away on the front cover. I think that this is an approach that I would like to take with my cover designs. I want the covers to have meaning behind the designs but not give to much a way about the book.
