Chosen Logos and Evaluation
The above images show the logos that Ella has used for her dance academy. She has used a combination of all the logos across the branding and merchandise for the school. I am happy that the client is pleased with the designs and that they have successfully filled the brief which I was given. The research that I conducted into existing dance school logos was very important when making the logos as it gave me a much clearer idea of the style which is used for these kind of companies. I think that the logo definitely works for the target market and the designs are vibrant and friendly meaning that they will be eye catching for children. They also have a certain amount of professionalism about them which would reassure parents that the business is completely serious and would be somewhere safe to send their children. I would like to have experimented more myself with the way in which these designs would be produced when applied to posters and merchandise. I think this would have given me a clearer idea of whether the designs work along side each other and if there were any more edits that needed to be made in order for them to be more consistent. I found these designs quite difficult to create as they made me take a big step out of my comfort zone due to the style being a lot more fluent and relaxed than the kind of designs which I tend to create. I think that this will have helped me to progress as a designer and in future might encourage me to be more playful when designing logos. It also has showed me that working with a non graphic designer is a harder task than you would expect. I have learnt that you have to be really good at communication and be able take the ideas of what they want and try to include these ideas with in the designs in a way that allows the designs to be representative of the client but be aesthetically pleasing.
