When we were planning for the photo shoot it was important to come up with some of the poses that we wanted the dances to do. We didn't have too many to go off of as we also wanted them to help us come up with poses that they felt comfortable doing as this would make for better photos. As we didn't know the exact ability of the dancers the photos below were rough guidelines of the kind of poses that we were hoping to achieve.
I also drew some very rough sketches of some poses that we hoped would be a good way of showing a combination of both of the dance styles. We wanted to show the stereotypical poses of both dance styles but then we also were thinking of looking at using some more contemporary poses to show the dance styles working together.
Visuals for the shoot
Due to busy and clashing schedules we have had issues getting the two lead dancers of the show to come up to Leeds from London in order for us to photograph them for the promo of the show. As a solution to this problem we got in touch with some dancers that we know in Leeds that we could use for the shoot instead. As it was not going to be our lead dancers that we had for the shoot we wanted to hide the identity of the dancers a little more. We had an idea of creating silhouettes however, we may struggle to do this in the studio due to limited access to certain types of kit. We therefore decided we wanted to do projections. We wanted these to relate to Lupus as this would also help to promote what the dance show is for in a very subtle manner. We settled on using the same video that we will use for the visuals for the show itself however, we will pause it at certain areas to allow for the right imagery to be on the dancers. We were aware that a lot of it will be trail and error in terms of what the butterflies will look like when projected however we hope that they will allow for interesting pictures that represent the dance show and our charity.
