For the photoshoot, we collaborated with two Fashion Photographers. We had two models for the shoot, one male and one female. Unfortunately we had a problem with getting any male dancers due to other commitments, the ones that we had organised dropped out fairly last minute but I was able to ask a friend from my work place who had a similar build to play off as a street dancer. Due to his background in yoga, we found that the images did seem a bit more contemporary than we had planned for them to be. Another issue was that he also had a shoulder injury meaning that he was unable to achieve some of the poses we had planned on experimenting with due to his range of movement being limited. This meant the photos weren't quite what we were hoping for however, we managed to work with what we had.
The idea of the photoshoot was to show the contrast of the dancers. We booked out a large studio and a projector. We projected the video that we created of the butterflies for the visuals onto the white background. I was in charge of managing the photoshoot and directing where we wanted the dancers to be, what positions they were in and then narrowing down the photos to the ones that fitted our brief. Emma was pausing the video at the correct moments so we had a clear image to project onto the dancers and moving it around to get the best imagery projected onto the dancers.
Below are photographs of the set up with one of the dancers in the frame. I was pleased with the way that the set up worked in the end as it all looked how we had hoped. I am excited to see how all of the photographs turned out and hope we managed to get some good pictures. It was nice working with other creatives on the shoot and it definitely opened my eyes to the difficulties you can face when working with more people and organising shoots.
